Meena, a 35-year-old woman from a small village near Surat, struggled to support her two children after her husband passed away. With no steady income and limited education, she felt helpless and unsure of how to move forward. Her life changed when she joined a mehndi (henna) training program organized by Dr. Hedgewar Smruti Seva Samiti, which aimed to empower women through skill development and self-dependency.
Through the training, Meena learned not only the art of mehndi but also how to manage clients and promote her services during wedding seasons. Soon, she began receiving regular bookings and earned enough to support her children’s education and household needs. The program even helped her connect with other women, creating a support network of self-reliant individuals.
